How did I lose my Body Balance?
Our bodies are constantly adapting to the environment in which we live.  When those adaptations exceed the normal limits of
our body’s capacity to adapt it can cause weaknesses in the tendons and ligaments that stabilize the bones that protect your
brain stem and spinal cord. This causes the body to create a secondary stabilization point that is away from a neutral, balanced
position. Research has shown that nowhere are these misalignments more detrimental than at the junction between your head
and neck. A misalignment at this area can interfere with the communication between your brain and body causing pain, stress,
tension, and overall physical and emotional dysfunction in your body

The longer this brain and body communication is disrupted, the more pain and health dysfunction can develop. Your body and
structure becomes abnormally stressed, and your brain no longer manages your body as optimally as it should. Misalignments
less than a millimeter in this area can begin to cause significant interference to the body. Since allopathic doctors look for gross
damage or dysfunction, not neural or structural misalignment, this problem goes largely undetected by conventional tests and
imaging.

Will the problem go away with time, if I just wait?
No… Although symptoms and pains may come and go, the problem can persist. If the condition is neglected over weeks,
months, or years at a time, it can compound into a complex set of ailments and degenerative breakdown. This takes much
longer to correct and stabilize than if the problem would have been addressed when symptoms had first been apparent.

The longer the time period, the more muscles and ligaments are comprised and adapt to the new set of mechanical
parameters.  This is why we are advocates of getting checked for misalignments early in life and setting a pattern of balanced
symmetry within the body from birth.

Would a NUCCA Chiropractor be able to help me even though I’ve had minimal
results with traditional Medicine and Chiropractic?
In our office, the majority of patients get relief from their primary complaint over the course of the initial treatment. Almost all of
them have already seen at least one medical physician (usually multiple), and one or more chiropractors. Often times these
physicians were able to provide some relief to the patient, but the problem still existed or re-occurred all too often.

Even that we would love to see benefits out of every case, not every case is due to a spinal misalignment.  Only after a
thorough evaluation can we give you an opinion about your case specifically and if this would be the right office for you. In
some cases, this might only take as little as 15 minute initial assessment

Will my insurance pay for care?
If your insurance plan covers chiropractic, then depending on the insurance company, there could be a good chance that they
will either cover some or most of your services during the first few months of care. We recommend that you don’t base your
decision to get care or not on an insurance companies coverage. Your quality of life is your responsibility, not your insurance
companies. All of our practice members pay with cash, check, or credit card at the time of service. If you would like to try for
reimbursement, we give you a receipt with the insurance codes on it to submit to your insurance company. You will be
reimbursed based on what is contracted with your company.

What if my policy doesn’t cover your services?
Your health is your most valuable possession.  Each of us is free to place a different value on it.  It’s convenient when an
insurance company pays the bill, but don’t allow the profit motive of insurance companies to make the decision about your
quality of life for you. It is you that needs to live with your body the rest of your life, not the insurance company. We have
different options that make our services affordable for most people.  The question you have to ask yourself is: "Is my health
worth it?"

Is the NUCCA adjustment painful?
It is quite frequent that my patients do not even notice that a correction is happening.  There is no twisting, popping or
snapping occurring.  The low-force technique that we utilized applies approximately 2 pounds of force right behind the ear in
which you may or may not hear or feel the resistance of the body structure release.

How safe is a NUCCA adjustment?
The NUCCA adjustment is one of the safest forms of treatment available. A New Zealand government study found that NUCCA
corrections are "remarkably safe." By avoiding drugs and risky surgery, chiropractic care enjoys an excellent track record. The
precise and gentle nature of the NUCCA spinal correction requires no snapping, popping, or twisting of the neck or back. The
adjustment is extremely safe, gentle, and effective.

Are all patients adjusted the same way?
Yes, and NO.  We release the spinal misalignment by the same technique on all our patients.  However it has been estimated
that over 10,000 combinations of vertebral displacements exist so each combination does require a different, precision
adjustment, which is determined from the analysis of the patient's x-rays.

Do all people respond the same with NUCCA Care?
No. For that matter, does everyone respond the same way to certain drugs (medications), addictions, stress, surgery or
therapies? Of course not. There is really no way to be absolutely certain as to how well, or how quickly you will improve. The
reason for this is because there are some conditions which are directly related to body imbalance (misalignment), those which
are partially related, and those which are not related at all. It is only after we have corrected the misalignment and it becomes
stable for a period of time that we know the impact the correction will have. However, most patients experience considerable
relief within two to three weeks.

What Can I Expect After My First NUCCA Spinal Correction
After the NUCCA Spinal Correction, you may experience a variety of changes within your body. These are due to the nervous
system responding to the structural correction. Symptoms can also be a positive sign that healing is taking place. In order to
heal, the body must go through different cycles of repair which very often express themselves in some of the following ways:
•        Alleviation of symptoms, tired or relaxed
•        Light-headedness, possible headaches
•        Muscle stiffness in other areas of the body
•        Pain in the area of an old injury
•        Tingling and heat sensation
•        Elimination changes (diarrhea or constipation)
You should not be concerned if the pain changes or moves to another area of the body. Symptoms may decrease immediately.
However, the amount of misalignment and severity of the condition will determine the recovery time. Please make the doctor
aware of any and all changes. Remember, pain is a sign that the body is working, any changes can be part of the healing
process.

How many adjustments will I need?
The number of adjustments needed varies from person to person. This variance is caused by several factors. These factors
include:

1) Patient compliance (following the doctors recommendations).
2) How much damage there is to the spinal structure?
3) What type of lifestyle you have.
4) Emotional and physical stress.
5) The shape of your spinal bones.

Some people stabilize fairly quickly need only a couple of adjustments in the first month, while others may need many more.
Once the spine stabilizes (usually within a six months of treatment), the average adult patient holds their correction between 2
and 3 months. The upper cervical adjustments generally stabilize within the body much longer than other types of chiropractic
adjustments.

If I get adjusted more frequently will it speed my recovery?
No. You only get adjusted when the doctor has all indications an adjustment is necessary. Many times adjusting too frequently
can actually hinder the recovery process, making the correction more unstable.  You will be given a specific recommendation
for care based on what the doctor has seen in your case and the probability of recovery speed. It is up to your body to make
these internal changes and that does take time.

How long will I need NUCCA Chiropractic Care?
After the initial spinal correction is made, and the spine returns to a normal balanced position, the acute symptoms will begin to
alleviate. The body will then enter into a recovery cycle where it begins to stabilize into a new balanced position. Once the body
is stabilized and begins holding its alignment, it takes about one month to recover for every year the spine has been misaligned
providing the correction is maintained. After this recovery period has been achieved nearly all patients have discovered the
value of maintaining their spinal correction and choose to stay in alignment the rest of their life.

Are X-rays really necessary?
Absolutely! Precise spinal x-rays are imperative to the NUCCA procedure. We are often dealing with misalignments as small as
1/10th of a degree. With such small misalignments, the precision x-rays that we take allow us to calculate the correct method to
restore the misalignment to normal, thus allowing your body to begin the healing process. The radiation exposure is extremely
low with the NUCCA x-ray series, due to special lead filters that block out a majority of the radiation.
